Job description

SPUD.ca is looking for a full-time, permanent Delivery Team Lead to join our team in Edmonton, AB (7039 68th Avenue). The schedule for this position is Monday to Friday 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM. Actual hours may vary depending on business needs.

The Delivery Team Lead assists the Delivery Supervisor in the daily operations of the Delivery Team. They are responsible for ensuring the plans of the Delivery Supervisor are properly executed by the drivers. They oversee the operations of and are responsible for monitoring the progress, performance, and safety of the evening delivery team, and they are responsible for route planning and dispatching the next day’s orders. Going out on delivery routes on a regular basis to fill in gaps in the schedule is a chief responsibility, along with covering leadership duties for the Calgary delivery team as needed. They are also required to complete various pickup duties as assigned, and act as a liaison between the Community Care and Delivery teams.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Be a champion of safe driving habits and delivery route efficiency – lead from the front and complete all assigned delivery routes safely and on schedule.

  • Assist overseeing the entire delivery department in their day-to-day duties.

  • Motivate the team to meet quality and efficiency targets & complete delivery workload through daily engagement.

  • Contribute to the hiring and oversee the training of new Delivery Team Members.

  • Complete driver ride-alongs and provide positive & constructive feedback to improve delivery team member performance

  • Monitor all feedback channels and act on customer concerns.

  • Support Calgary leadership team in overseeing day-to-day operations.

  • Lead with positivity and empathy, while ensuring that team members respect their peers and the requirements of their positions. Engage and develop the team through regular feedback.

  • Work with our DC operations teams to ensure a high standard of quality in the orders we deliver to customers.

  • Coordinate with the Logistics Manager and Delivery Supervisor on implementing new changes, contributing to projects, data collection efforts, and overall strategic planning.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Job requirements

  • Experienced professional, looking to develop their leadership skills; leadership experience is preferred but not required.

  • Organized and efficient.

  • Flexible – able to adjust to changing schedules, environments, and new challenges.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • A Class 5 Driver’s license and clean driving abstract.

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Display a passion for creating amazing customer experiences worth sharing.

  • Responsible and professional.

  • Someone who loves supporting and helping others.

  • Someone who is motivated to find gaps in procedures and problems that need solving and works at fixing them without being asked.

  • A willingness to be scrappy and own it!

Physical demands & working conditions:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs continuously

  • Ability to work on your feet all day, bending, leaning, crouching and walking

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time and operate larger vehicles

  • Ability to work for extended periods of time in cold environments digging vehicles out of the snow
