Job description

The Delivery Team Lead assists the Delivery Supervisor in the daily operations of the Delivery Team. They are responsible for ensuring the plans of the Delivery Supervisor are properly executed by the drivers. They are also expected to fill in on routes where needed, complete various pickup duties as assigned, and act as a liaison between the Customer Care and Delivery Teams.

  • Ensure accurate updates of SPUD customer delivery info as it pertains to delivery drivers and delivery routing.

  • Act as the lead for all Delivery Team Members, ensuring they are prepared to execute their deliveries efficiently.

  • Coordinate and delegate re-deliveries, on-demand deliveries, transfers, and pickups.

  • Route deliveries using routing software.

  • Work with our Warehouse Operations teams to resolve issues and enhance service.

  • Assist with on-boarding of new drivers, own the driver training program.

  • Resolving issues with equipment and vehicles as they occur, passing on the relevant information to the Delivery Supervisor and Fleet department.

  • Keep track of driver behaviour using tools like GPS, to ensure safe driving practices and minimize vehicle damage.

  • Lead by example in going above and beyond for our customers.

  • Cover delivery routes as needed.

  • Be the champion of safe driving habits.

  • Ensure Pre-Loads are completed in an efficient manner.

  • Ensure efficient management of paper records, including filing of Driver Checklists and Route sheets.

  • Ensuring Heath and Safety practices are followed and any incidents and documented and reported accordingly

  • Additional duties as required.

Job requirements

  • A good understanding of computers and smart phones is a must

  • A working knowledge of excel and routing software applications

  • Organized and efficient.

  • Flexible – able to adjust to changing schedules, environments, and new challenges.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • A full Class 5 Driver’s license (Non-GDL) and clean driving abstract.

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Display a passion for creating amazing customer experiences worth sharing.

  • Responsible and mature.

  • Someone who loves supporting and helping others.

  • A self starter: someone who is motivated to find gaps in procedures and problems that need solving and works at fixing them without being asked.

  • A willingness to be scrappy and own it!

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs continuously

  • Ability to work on your feet all day, bending, leaning, crouching and walking

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time and operate larger vehicles

  • Ability to work for extended periods of time in cold environments digging vehicles out of the snow
