Job description

SPUD is looking for a permanent full-time Delivery Driver to join our team based in Victoria, BC
(1015 Henry Eng Place Victoria, Langford, BC). Shifts will be Monday- Friday.

Our Delivery Team Members deliver grocery orders to customers of Spud, and its partners, based on assigned routes and instructions, providing exceptional customer service. They also support the Operations team in the Warehouse.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive around Vancouver Island, listening to your music and making deliveries in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Complete a vehicle inspection, load/unload the truck, follow a delivery route, and complete deliveries to Spud customers and delivery partners.

  • Read customer notes and always follow delivery instructions.

  • Pick up any empty bins, freezer bags, ice packs, milk bottles, etc.

  • Operate equipment and machines, such as trucks, pallet jacks, etc.

  • Review and prepare orders before and after delivery to ensure accuracy and customer satisfaction.

  • Prepare reports and other documents relating to deliveries.

  • Answer customer questions, resolve issues, and escalate concerns if necessary.

  • Be the champion of safe driving habits.

  • Provide our customers with a great experience when they interact with you! You are the face of the company; we receive a ton of positive feedback about our wonderful drivers!

  • Support the warehouse team cross docking orders from the Lower Mainland, checking for accuracy, organizing bins and products for their return to Spud Vancouver.

  • Ensure health and safety practices are followed, and any incidents are reported accordingly.

  • Regularly clean/detail the vans to ensure the fleet is pristine.

  • Additional duties as required.

Job requirements

  • A Class 5 Driver’s license and clean driving abstract.

  • Experience driving larger vehicles is required (ours are Mercedes Sprinter and 3-ton Hino).

  • Ability to comfortably drive around Vancouver Island in all types of weather, displaying excellent driving skills.

  • Flexible – able to adjust to changing schedules, environments, and new challenges.

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • A self-starter: someone who is motivated to find gaps in procedures and problems that need solving and works at fixing them without being asked.

Physical demands & working conditions:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs continuously.

  • Ability to work on your feet all day, bending, leaning, crouching and walking.

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time and operate larger vehicles.

  • Ability to work for extended periods of time in cold environments digging vehicles out of the snow.

  • Must be able to work in cold environments, including the refrigeration in our vehicle, and coolers.

  • Must have excellent English language skills, both written and spoken.
