Job description
The Delivery Coordinator supports the Delivery Supervisor in managing daily delivery operations, with a focus on the evening delivery team. They oversee and delegate tasks to Delivery Drivers and Leads, ensuring smooth execution of delivery plans. The role includes building next-day delivery routes, monitoring team performance, and tracking key KPIs such as on-time delivery rates, misdeliveries, and driver efficiency. The Delivery Coordinator also serves as the main point of contact between the Delivery and Customer Care teams to ensure seamless communication and service recovery.
Serve as the primary point of contact and daily support for all Delivery Team Members and Team Leads, ensuring they are equipped and prepared to complete their routes efficiently and on time.
Route deliveries using routing software, ensuring accuracy and efficiency based on real-time needs and delivery requirements.
Coordinate and delegate re-deliveries, on-demand deliveries, transfers, and pickups.
Ready to cover transfer route driving a 5-ton truck from Calgary to Edmonton, when needed.
Ensure all SPUD customer delivery information is kept up to date and accurately reflected in routing and driver assignments.
Collaborate with Warehouse Operations to address issues, improve handoffs, and ensure high-quality order fulfillment.
Assist in onboarding and training new drivers and Team Leads, taking ownership of the driver training program and ensuring alignment with SOPs and service standards.
Monitor and support driver performance using GPS and telematics tools, promoting safe driving habits and reducing incidents and vehicle damage.
Respond to equipment and vehicle issues as they arise; escalate unresolved concerns to the Delivery Supervisor and Fleet Manager for follow-up.
Lead by example with professionalism, flexibility, and a customer-first attitude, always ready to step in and support the team.
Cover delivery routes when drivers call in sick, if required.
Ensure Pre-Pack/Pre-Loads are completed in an efficient manner and assist drivers while engaging positively.
Promote and enforce health and safety standards, ensuring incidents are documented and reported promptly.
Perform additional duties as assigned to support delivery operations.
Job requirements
Experience in delivery, logistics, or operations, with proven ability to lead or support a team.
Working knowledge and willingness operate and learn new routing software, GPS/telematics tools, WMS systems, and excel to support the delivery department.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional overtime or weekend shifts.
Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Experience driving a 5-ton truck is mandatory.
Familiarity with workplace safety standards and customer service expectations.
Someone who loves supporting and helping others.
A self starter: someone who is motivated to find gaps in procedures and problems that need solving and works at fixing them without being asked.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs continuously
Ability to work on your feet all day, bending, leaning, crouching, and walking
Ability to sit for extended periods of time and operate larger vehicles such as 5-Ton trucks
Ability to work for extended periods of time in cold environments (eg: digging vehicles out of the snow)
Comfortable with driving in low-light/low visibility conditions (eg: driving at night, driving in snow squalls)
